Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No, you do not need a Costco membership to access our services. We are a separate entity and provide our eyecare services independently of Costco membership requirements. All individuals, whether or not they have a Costco membership, are welcome to receive our optometry services.

During an eye exam at Apex Eyecare, we will evaluate your visual acuity, check for any eye diseases or conditions, and assess your eye health. We may also perform additional tests to determine your prescription for glasses or contacts.

Generally once a year for most adults.

Yes, we welcome walk-ins at our Tampa Costco location! While we do our best to accommodate same-day visits, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment in advance to minimize your wait time. If you are already in the warehouse shopping, feel free to stop by to check our current availability.

Yes! You will receive a printed copy of your glasses prescription immediately after your exam. Contact lens prescriptions are finalized once the doctor confirms the fit is healthy and comfortable (sometimes requiring a brief follow-up).

We highly recommend that you complete the new patient information on our patient portal prior to your scheduled appointment. This will help expedite the check-in process and ensure that we have all the necessary information to provide you with the best care. You should receive an email or instructions on how to access the patient portal after scheduling your appointment. If you encounter any difficulties or have questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office for assistance.

It's a good idea to bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of medications you're taking, and any relevant medical history to your eye exam.

A routine exam is for vision correction (glasses/contacts). A medical exam focuses on diagnosing or treating a specific condition like dry eye, infection, or monitoring a disease like diabetes.

Feel free to visit the Costco Optical located steps outside of our office for your eyewear needs. We provide you with a printed copy of your prescription immediately following your exam.
